Our core work sits across the Permian Basin, where federal acreage, state tracts, and fee minerals frequently appear within the same drilling unit.
Southeast New Mexico is heavily federal. Record title and operating rights are routinely severed, ORRI burdens stack across assignments, and the controlling history lives in the BLM lease file rather than the county records. State Land Office tracts add a second set of assignment and term rules on top.
West Texas title is largely fee, which moves the difficulty into the chain itself — century-old reservations, undivided interests fractionated through generations of probate, and depth severances that rarely align with modern horizontal targets. Relinquishment Act tracts introduce their own analysis.
Basin Focus
Development across the Permian moves fast and stacks vertically. A single section can support targets in the Bone Spring, Wolfcamp, Spraberry, and deeper — each potentially subject to a different depth severance and a different set of burdens.
